Laura Gilpin: An Enduring Grace

This first biography of photographer Laura Gilpin (1891–1979) chronicles more than fifty years of her work with the Pueblo and Navajo Indians and establishes her as the pre-eminent woman landscape photographer of her era. Born in Colorado, Gilpin studied photography at the Clarence White School in New York, then returned west to pursue a career as a photographer and author, first in Colorado Springs and later in Santa Fe. Beautifully illustrated with tri-tone reproductions of her photographs drawn from her estate at the Amon Carter Museum, this book offers the definitive study of her life and work.
